The Ask

Lifetime asked us to create a series of promotional spots that would build up to their annual New Year’s movie marathon, Deadly Resolutions. Since the event happens every year, the spots would need to have a new, distinct look to stand out from years past.

The Challenge

In order to create something special for this year’s marathon, we needed to treat it almost like a re-brand, pulling from Lifetime’s core brand but making it its own stand out piece. It was also important to seamlessly integrate the movie footage into the animated segments so that they felt as if they belong in the same world.

 

The Result

We picked out our fav movie moments, and got to work creating dramatic edits that would play well into the concept of making resolutions — Deadly Resolutions. As if someone were making a list, we numbered each resolution and gave a name to the drama unfolding onscreen via Adobe After Effects. The bold typeface resembling lipstick on glass, coupled with shaky-cam animation and a clock motif, brings the typical glamour of NYE closer to the realm of psychosis for this riveting Lifetime marathon.
