The Ask
As huge fans of the WE tv franchise Love After Lockup, we were thrilled when the network asked Creative Mammals to create a :30 promo spot for the spin-off, Love During Lockup. The concept of the promo was to guide viewers through different “firsts” that prison romances experience.
The Challenge
Another part of the ask was that we use stick figure animation but make sure the content felt “adult.” Because the length of the promo was relatively short, we needed to be conscious of conveying each idea in its simplest form, with clear actions and concise humor.
The Result
Using simple stick figure characters, selective colors, and subtle paper textures, we created a snappy promo full of drama and hilarity. Rather than overcomplicating the transitions, we kept the animation more analog, giving each scenario time to read and letting the character animations be the star of the show. We used Adobe Photoshop to design each scene and After Effects for the animation.
