SCOOB!

Cartoon Network asked us to create a fun promo spot for Warner Bros. Pictures’ new animated Scooby-Doo movie, SCOOB!, that would infuse some graphics magic into footage from their existing trailer.

Taking a stroll down memory lane, this promo highlights the photos which make up Scoob and Shaggy’s relationship. Our challenge was to portray their origin story through a photo app, which would serve as a portal into those memories. Having to use existing footage from the trailer, we also needed to create an edit that would seamlessly integrate our Cartoon Network-branded animation into the world of Scooby-Doo.

Using a spook-tacular ghost as our first person perspective, we were able to create a linear storyline in which the audience revisits Scoob and Shaggy’s best moments in anticipation of this new story, but utilizing Adobe Illustrator to capture the playful spirit of our famous duo. Our ghost character is fully revealed at the end of the promo, given mischievous motion via After Effects, and chases Scooby and Shaggy into their next adventure, and yours — SCOOB!.
